Internal Audit Manager

FWCG seeks am Internal Auditor who will lead complex financial and operational audits. S/he will develop scopes of work, review and customize standard internal audit programs to address risk in client environments, and provide independent and objective assurance and consulting activities resulting in value-added recommendations, process improvements, stronger internal controls and program objective assessments. The Manager will also consider changes in regulations, economic indicators, and international news for impact on the nonprofit industry and FWCG’s clients. All internal audits are conducted in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and internal auditing standards (IAS). FWCG clients are subject to various US government regulations, donor regulations and requirements, and organizational financial policies and procedures.

Under the direction of the FWCG Partners, in this role the Auditor will:

• Document and maintain FWCG Internal Audit programs, including the development of audit methodologies, procedures, work papers, protocols and templates, to ensure consistency with FWCG established audit approach and quality assurance procedures. 
• Oversee planning of audits by assessing key risk factors and control activities and ensuring linkage between risks and planned procedures.
• Understand client's business environment and risk management approaches.
• Review audit reports, completed programs, and workpapers to ensure quality of service, build capacity of auditors through effective feedback, and prepare work product for review by engagement and concurring partners.
• Clearly understand and communicate audit issues and resolutions to engagement and concurring partners.
• Build and nurture positive working relationships with clients with the intention to exceed client expectations
• Facilitate use of technology-based tools or methodologies to review, design and/or implement products and services.
• Establish and maintain strong relationship with senior and staff auditors.
• Coordinate audit and consulting activities with the FWCG Partners, Senior Auditors, Manager of Operations, and Client personnel to ensure most efficient assignment of FWCG resources.
• Identify opportunities to improve engagement profitability.
• Remain current and increase knowledge in areas of fraud prevention and detection, risk management, internal audit, and USG and other regulations applicable to nonprofits.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements of Candidates:
Must be a CPA or CIA and have at least five years experience in internal audit or public accounting. Nonprofit financial management experience and specific knowledge of OMB Circulars A-110, A-122 and A-133 is required. CFE is desired. Knowledge of a second language strongly preferred.

Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Must be willing and fit to travel to developing countries, demonstrate flexibility and ingenuity, and the ability to work well with others in a variety of settings.

The position offers flexibility regarding location and schedule, and will require approximately 75% FTE. Of this effort, over 50% travel may be required to conduct fieldwork in locations that could be considered insecure and/or undeveloped. Salary commensurate with experience.
